This past weekend, with small to do thanks to the pandemic, I marathoned via the Rapidly and Furious franchise. That was fortuitous timing, because on Tuesday a new trailer dropped for F9, the following installment, which comes in theaters on June 25.
We in fact received our initial look at F9 perfectly around a year in the past, when the first trailer dropped at the stop of January 2020. Relatives has been a central topic to the F&F flicks, and that carries on below. Dominic Torreto (played by Vin Diesel) and the gang have to confront his more youthful brother Jakob (John Cena), described as “the most skilled assassin and significant-functionality driver they have encountered.” He is working with legal mastermind Cipher (Charlize Theron), who sports a considerably additional flattering haircut than in Destiny of the Furious, the motion picture the place she improbably hacked a bunch of aged autos to push by themselves.
Also returning to the series is Han Lue (Sung Kang), who we all assumed died at the end of Tokyo Drift. (This was exposed to be the work of Deckard Shaw (Jason Stratham) who was bad in Furious 7 but then turned out to be excellent in Fate of the Furious and Hobbs and Shaw.)
Centered on this second trailer, the plot for F9 appears to entail magnets, and at just one position Tej Parker (Chris “Ludacris” Bridges) and Roman Pearce (Tyrese Gibson) don makeshift force satisfies and get to the skies in what may well be a DeLorean with rocket boosters strapped to the roof.
As my colleague Jennifer Ouellette explained previous yr, “F&F9 will likely make about as much feeling as its predecessors—in other words, not considerably sense at all. And supporters would not have it any other way.”
I know I wouldn’t.
